Heat wave
it’s been too hot all week to do very much. we have been cowering inside with the a/c and it’s been quite comfortable in here.
this is also the end of week 2 that the kids are out of school and it’s flying by. it’s been extra loud, extra messy and extra hectic, but overall more fun than anything else. my princess leigha has taken the daycare girls under her wing and organized art projects, song circles, crafts, planting of cherry pits, spa make-overs and today she has them all in princess costumes. (except for the dino and the tiger). not to forget the fantastic craft idea which came from my prince connor — robots out of recyclables. this project was unavoidable since for weeks connor refused to throw out this or that saying “it’s grobie’s head” “this can be grobie’s hear” ect. so we gathered up boxes, containers, duct tape, tin foil and other bits and pieces to make robots.
we also have had several of our song circles on the verandah, and a couple of times we have played in the backyard, sandbox, and a couple of times ran through the sprinkler. it’s been a busy 2 weeks and considering that there has only been one trip to a playground with a splash pad, i think we have done a fantastic job entertaining ourselves.
i look forward to some more humane temperatures in the coming few weeks so that we can do some walking and explore some of the other parks in the area since our home park is going to be under construction all summer. but so far

impromptu mac salad success
we were outside playing in the garden or sandbox all morning. i come in and try to figure out what will make a yummy but easy lunch. i start with fresh farm eggs that we bought at “the piggy market” yesterday. i always make a point of telling the kids we are getting “fresh farm eggs” because it does make a difference…a big difference. you never know how fresh they are when you get them at the grocery stores.
while they boil up i also boil water for macaroni. chop some cherry tomatoes in half, and finely dice a red pepper. i add a glob of mayonaise, a dollop of italian dressing, and two big spoons of sweet green relish. the “salad” looks a bit too red so i run out back and grab a handful of basil and a handfull of parsley. mmm. that’s right. after the macaroni and eggs go in there it is DELISH. i’ve gone from a cheap throw it together meal of whatever is kicking around – to a WOW mac salad with protien and yum factor.
YESSSSS!!! (i love it when that happens.)
